Kris Caldwell ~ The Tiantian Qigong School
Two years ago, Kris Caldwell graced our Mount Rainier Silent Retreat. She is founder of the Tiantian School of Qigong in Seattle and has extensive training in Qigong theory and practice. She travels to China biannually to study with respected Qigong masters. Kris also studies Traditional Chinese Medicine and Mandarin.
Kris shares,"Qigong is the practice of spending time working with the vital force in and around one's body to accelerate healing and spiritual growth. Of Chinese origin, Qigong is at lease 5,000 years old and there are 3,000 distinct methods or forms being taught around the world today. Qigong is the foundation for Chinese Medicine (acupuncture is a form of external Qigong); Tai Chi is a soft, 'martial' form of Qigong."
At our Mount Rainier Retreat, Kris presented The 1000 Hands Buddha Healing Qigong Method, which has the capacity to heal body, mind and spirit through a series of most elegant mudra (hand and arm) movements, which are performed in exquisite silence and presence. She explains that practice of this form quickly leads to a sense of connectedness with nature and the universe, balancing the emotions and opening the practitioner to greater awareness. Kris has made the 1000 Hands Buddha a staple in the Northwest's Qigong cupboard, much to the delight of those who have practiced this beautiful form. The mudras support inner body awareness as a portal to deep peace.
