"Deva Premal Highlight"

   www.devapremalmiten.com
Deva is best known for her top-selling chant cds, however she is also a classically trained musician and a gifted singer. She grew up singing mantras as lullabies in a German home permeated with Eastern spirituality. Her albums, The Essence, Love is Space and Embrace have topped New Age charts and popularity polls in yoga studios and healing centers throughout the world.

Her latest album, "Dakshina," leapt to Number 1 in the Amazon New Age charts on the first day of its release, and unheard of for a chant album, soared to Number 13 in the mainstream chart. She sang one of her chants, Gayatri Mantra, with her partner, Miten, on CNBC News and they have performed for the Dalai Lama.

Miten and Deva first met in India at the ashram of the mystic, Osho. Their music arose from their love for their Guru and through their meditation at the ashram. "Our music is born out of meditation and celebration of life. It's not a matter of entertaining people. Our nourishment and life's work is to create gathering around the planet where people can come together in celebration and meditation."

~ Miten and Deva Premal, from Deva Premal and Miten Website.

Over one year in the making, the album contains a 50 minute meditation on the beautiful Moola Mantra - a celebration of sacred male and female energy - discovered by Deva and Miten during their inspirational visits to the Oneness University, in Chennai, India.
Produced by Ben Leinback, known for his fine production work with Jai Uttal, the Moola Mantra, like a symphony, meanders through a landscape of sitars, bansuri, dotar, string quartets, grand piano, tablas and ambient electronica, with Deva's stunning voice - a golden thread - leading the way.

Special guest musicians include Miten (vocals), Jai Uttal (dotar), Nepalese bansuri maestro Manose, who has become an integral part of Deva Premal and Miten's live performances, Kit Walker (piano), and Benjy Wertheimer (esraj). 51 minutes
